Mentoring Britain kick-started the week with our Speed Mentoring for Startups event held at WeWork Old Street last Monday.

We invited highly knowledgeable and experienced experts to act as mentors for the evening, these mentors were selected from all different fields of work, ranging from those that are running successful companies, through to those that have made companies and sold them for millions, in areas such as Social Media, Ecommerce, Branding & Intellectual Property.

With free beer, rosé and cider on tap, the evening of networking commenced – 8 experts, 8 groups and 10 minutes in each round to fire their questions away!

It was an intimate meet-up of 40+ keen entrepreneurs searching for answers on how they can take their business to the next level. Both mentors and guests came away feeling positive, stating that it was “A great vibe, mentors wanting to share their skills, mentees keen on engaging and discussing their startup/entrepreneurial ideas.”

We found that many people were surprised to know we host such quality events free of charge – something of which Mentoring Britain feels very passionate about.

The Government Intellectual Property Office provided a mentor that assisted in covering all of those more technical and yet imperative aspects of what a company’s’ intellectual property consists of and how to protect your brand.

Also present were Startup Direct, who provide government-backed funding, mentoring & support to small businesses as part of the UK government’s Start Up Loans Scheme –  giving the entrepreneurs the chance to discuss their options.

Overall our first Speed-Mentoring for Startups was a success. We’re please we had the opportunity to help the Startup community gain valuable knowledge and hope everyone else is as excited as we are for the upcoming events.

Mentoring Britain will be delivering an extensive UK wide programme of events of this nature from September onwards.
